Legal tip of the day
Legal tip of the day: Avoid accidents even if you’re not at fault. If the insurance company finds out that you could have avoided the accident, you might not get paid. A lot of people believe that if they get injured in an accident they’ll have a big pay day. Because of this, some people joking suggest that they are willing to put themselves in harms way to cash out on an injury. *Buzzer sound* WRONG there’s something called the “last clear chance” rule and insurance companies routinely investigate to see if you had the last clear chance to avoid the accident. If you did, the insurance company might not settle. AND if it went to trial you can only imagine how bad it looks to a jury that you had a chance to avoid the accident but didn’t because you wanted money. Moral of the story: avoid accidents. Extra credit lesson: never willingly risk getting injured. Sure the bigger the injury the more money its worth, but is risking your life worth the money?
