Athol Man Indicted in Federal Case Alleging Sexual Exploitation of Minors

A recent federal indictment has brought serious attention to an Athol man now facing multiple charges connected to the sexual exploitation of minors and the possession of child sexual abuse materials. Federal prosecutors announced that 41-year-old Michael Indelicato was taken into custody on Oct. 7, 2025, following a Worcester grand jury’s decision to charge him with sexual exploitation of a minor, aiding and abetting, an additional count of sexual exploitation of a minor, two counts of receiving child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography. He remains held in federal custody.
Court documents outline a disturbing pattern stretching back to 2020. On or around Nov. 16 of that year, investigators say Indelicato used Snapchat to offer an individual $1,500 in exchange for illicit images involving the individual’s younger sibling, a pre-pubescent minor. According to the allegations, he convinced the individual to create and send the materials to him through the messaging app. Just a few months later, on Jan. 12, 2021, he allegedly used the same platform to persuade a different minor to create and send him similar illegal content. The investigation continued for several years and culminated in a May 1, 2025 search of Indelicato’s home, where authorities say they uncovered a large quantity of illegal material tied to him.
The charges he now faces each carry substantial potential penalties. Sexual exploitation of a minor comes with a mandatory minimum of 15 years in federal prison, along with at least five years of supervised release and the possibility of a lifetime of monitoring. Receipt of child pornography includes a mandatory minimum of five years and similar supervised release requirements, while possession of such material can result in as much as 20 years in prison. Any final sentence will ultimately be determined by a federal judge under federal sentencing guidelines.
The case was announced by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Ted E. Docks, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Boston Division. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brendan O’Shea of the Worcester Branch Office is leading the prosecution.
As with all criminal cases, the details laid out in charging documents are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
