Mansfield Crash Claims Life of Old Saybrook Woman
On the evening of December 14, 2025, a fatal motor vehicle crash on Interstate 395 southbound in Griswold brought traffic to a standstill and marked a heartbreaking loss of life. Just after 6:30 p.m., state troopers were dispatched to the area near Exit 24 following reports of a serious collision involving a pickup truck that had left the roadway.
When first responders arrived, they found a gray 2015 Ford F-150 that had exited the highway and struck a portion of an overpass. The truck sustained extensive damage, reflecting the force of the impact. Two people were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash, a male driver and a female passenger.
The driver, Justin Grebasch of Madison, Connecticut, was treated at the scene and transported by ambulance to William W. Backus Hospital with suspected injuries. The passenger, Colleen Grebasch of Old Saybrook, who was seated in the front passenger seat, suffered severe injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her death was attributed to the injuries sustained in the collision.
The crash remains under active investigation as authorities work to determine what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway. State police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident, captured dash camera footage, or has information that could assist investigators to come forward. As officials continue their work, the incident stands as a solemn reminder of how quickly lives can be altered on the road and leaves family members, friends, and the surrounding community mourning the sudden loss of a woman whose life ended far too soon.
