Pedestrian, 32, Fatally Struck on Route 72 East in Plainville
Late on the night of December 18, 2025, a fatal pedestrian crash occurred on Route 72 East in the town of Plainville, highlighting the ongoing dangers present on high-speed roadways not designed for foot traffic. The incident happened at approximately 10:38 p.m. near the Exit 4A–4B area, an active stretch of highway with limited visibility and fast-moving vehicles.
According to state police, a single vehicle was traveling eastbound in the left lane when, for reasons that remain unknown, it struck a pedestrian who was on the roadway. The pedestrian, a 32-year-old man from Bristol, sustained injuries that were not compatible with life and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but there were no life-saving measures that could be taken.
The driver of the vehicle, a woman from Terryville operating a 2017 Buick Envision, reported no injuries. The vehicle sustained damage and was towed from the scene for further examination as part of the investigation. No additional vehicles were involved in the crash.
