Emails Reveal Epstein Visited Waterbury, CT On Rosh Hashanah 2013- But Why?

A viral image has been circulating showing Jeffrey Epstein listing Waterbury, Connecticut as a planned destination in September 2013. At first glance, it looks like the kind of detail that immediately triggers alarm bells. Why Waterbury? What was he doing there? Who was he meeting?

But the most important piece of context is often missed in the way this gets shared online: by 2013, Epstein was a registered sex offender, and that status came with strict travel reporting requirements. This wasn’t simply a casual itinerary. In many jurisdictions, individuals on the registry were required to notify authorities when they traveled, especially across state lines or away from their primary residence.

The document shown in the screenshot appears to be exactly that kind of compliance filing. It reads like a travel notice sent to the Virgin Islands Department of Justice, advising them of a change in plans and stating that while in New York, Epstein intended to take a day trip to Waterbury, Connecticut on September 7, 2013, returning the same day.

So the first grounded takeaway is straightforward: Waterbury was listed as part of a travel notification, likely because he had a duty to check in with authorities when he moved around.

That doesn’t answer the bigger question though, which is why Waterbury at all.

One detail that adds an unexpected layer is the date. September 7, 2013 was the second day of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. Epstein was Jewish, and while it is impossible to say with certainty what he was doing that day, the timing opens up possibilities that are more mundane than the conspiratorial tone most viral posts imply. He may have been marking the holiday privately, attending a service, meeting someone in the community, or simply structuring his travel around that calendar.

Still, Waterbury is not a place typically associated with Epstein’s most well-known locations like Manhattan, Palm Beach, or Little Saint James. So why would he go there?

Years later, Epstein’s name shows up again in emails connected to the Waterbury area, and this is where the story becomes more interesting, though still speculative.

One forwarded message dated April 4, 2017 comes from an organization called the Fortunate Blessings Foundation. The email is addressed directly to Jeffrey and discusses an upcoming fundraising event called Give Local Greater Waterbury & Litchfield Hills, hosted by the Connecticut Community Foundation. The tone is warm and familiar, thanking him for “continued support” and encouraging donations that would be boosted by sponsors.

This suggests that Epstein may have been on donor lists or involved in charitable giving connected to that region. That alone would not be shocking. Epstein cultivated philanthropic networks for years, often using donations and nonprofit involvement as a way to maintain legitimacy and access.

If Epstein was donating to Connecticut-based foundations or nonprofits, it creates at least one plausible connection to the Waterbury area that is not inherently mysterious: money, influence, and social ties.

Another email adds an even stranger texture. In a message from Leslie Groff, Epstein’s longtime assistant, Waterbury comes up in the context of a business dispute involving generators. The email describes someone named Jared being in Waterbury delivering a generator, discussions about refunds, messy office management, and a visit that seemed to surprise the people working there.

The details are oddly mundane but revealing. It shows Epstein’s world intersecting with small businesses and logistical operations in Connecticut. It also demonstrates that Waterbury was not just a random dot on a map, but a place that appeared in the orbit of his staff’s real errands and financial dealings.

Then there is the additional Connecticut connection through Richard Kahn, a Connecticut resident who served as Epstein’s accountant. Financial professionals, business associates, and intermediaries often formed the connective tissue of Epstein’s network. If Epstein had trusted advisors or accountants based in the state, travel to Connecticut becomes less surprising.

When you put these threads together, a more realistic picture starts to form.

Epstein’s Waterbury trip in September 2013 may not have been a standalone mystery. It may have been part of broader Connecticut ties involving professional relationships, charitable giving, or personal observances. And because he was on the sex offender registry, any travel like this would have required notification, creating paperwork that now resurfaces online.

Of course, none of this proves exactly what he was doing in Waterbury that day. The travel notice does not explain the purpose. The later emails do not directly link to September 2013. And Epstein’s history demands scrutiny, not naïve assumptions.

But the responsible conclusion is that Waterbury’s appearance in Epstein-related documents may reflect something more structural than sensational: registry reporting requirements, Connecticut-based financial and professional contacts, and possible philanthropic involvement in the region.

In the end, the Waterbury question remains open, but the evidence points less toward a single hidden event and more toward the uncomfortable reality that Epstein’s network and activities touched far more ordinary places than people expect.
