
ROCKY HILL, Conn. — Connecticut State Police arrested a South Carolina man after he was allegedly caught cutting down light poles along Interstate 91 in Rocky Hill earlier this month.
According to a criminal information summary released by the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, state troopers responded to the area of Interstate 91 southbound near Exit 24 at approximately 5 a.m. on May 30 following reports of an individual cutting light poles.
Following an investigation, troopers identified the suspect as Lamont Carlson Tucker, 62, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Authorities took Tucker into custody and transported him to Troop H in Hartford for arrest processing.
Police charged Tucker with Criminal Mischief in the First Degree and Larceny in the Fourth Degree. Investigators did not immediately disclose how many light poles were affected or provide an estimate of the damage caused by the incident.
Court records indicate Tucker was released on a $3,000 cash/surety bond and is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on June 12, 2026.
The incident remains under investigation.
